Hundertmark paints a humorously serious portrait of humanity, using visual metaphors to convey meanings and ideas. Ghostly ‘unfinished’ figures appear beside ‘solid’ figures, like messengers from another dimension. Her work is energetic but orderly. Warm colour is diffused through layers of underpainting, adding to the supernatural atmosphere. Her distinctive style uses animal mimicry to describe both aggressive and gentle behaviour. The transparent figures may represent a figures subconscious desires or alter-ego.
